Return of Golan Heights to Syria not under consideration, but issue can be discussed with Russia - Israeli FM

MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Israel is not holding talks with Damascus on a peace treaty and is not considering the possibility of returning the Golan Heights to Syria, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said on Thursday.

"Negotiations aren't being held now, and there is really nothing to negotiate on," Lapid said following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

"Israel isn't considering the issue of returning the Golan Heights to Syria," he said.

"But if there is a wish, we can discuss this issue with Russia," Lapid said.
