S-400 battalions hit hostile airborne targets during exercise in Crimea

MOSCOW. Sept 10 (Interfax) - Crews of S-400 Triumf air defense missile systems stationed in Crimea have practiced air defense of essential civil economic facilities, the Russian Black Sea Fleet spokesman Capt. 2nd rank Alexei Rulyov said on Friday.

"At the initial stage of the exercise, the servicemen tore down launchers and radars at their bases and marched to new position areas. The crews deployed launchers upon arrival, and the drivers-operators carried out geolocation and ground orientation," Rulyov said.

"During the main stage of the exercise, S-400 Triumf crews practiced the sequence of actions upon receiving information about approaching aircraft of the mock enemy," he said.

"Later on, servicemen detected, identified and destroyed airborne targets in the course of simulated missile launches," Rulyov said.

Meanwhile, the Pantsir artillery and missile systems practiced protection of S-400 positions from a missile strike of the mock enemy.

The exercise was held consistent with the combat training plan of the air defense missile formation of the Southern Military District.
