Russian Security Council discusses participation in int'l organizations in context of events in Afghanistan

NOVO-OGARYOVO, Moscow region. Sept 15 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited the members of the Security Council to discuss Russia's participation in the activities of international organizations, as well as security issues, in the context of the events in Afghanistan.

"Today, we will discuss our participation in the activity of certain international organizations, which are obviously of particular interest to us because of their relation to key areas of our foreign policy and security issues, especially in the context of the current events in the East, including Afghanistan, of course," Putin said at a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, presidential chief of staff Anton Vaino, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology, and Transport Sergei Ivanov attended the meeting.
