TYUMEN. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Deliveries of S-500 Prometei air defense missile systems have begun to the Russian Armed Forces, but not yet in their full set, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said.
The S-500 is a new generation of air defense missile systems, which, according to official reports, will be able to destroy satellites and hypersonic weapons in near space.
"State-commissioned testing has just finished, and the first deliveries of this system have started, but not yet in the full set that Almaz-Antey has to provide in line with the customer's requirements. These are the configurations of the system in the specified composition," Borisov told reporters on the sidelines of the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum.
Borisov told Interfax on August 23 about the serial production of S-500 systems.
