MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Tanks that took part in the Zapad 2021 Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise at the Mulino range in the Nizhny Novgorod region are now back to base, the Western Military District press service said in a statement.
"Tanks from the Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District stationed in the Nizhny Novgorod region are back to base from the Zapad 2021 joint Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise at the Mulino range," the press service said.
According to the district headquarters, motorized infantry, tank and artillery formations performed a march of over 100 kilometers, and trained air defense and countering of sabotage and reconnaissance of the mock enemy on their way.
"As of now, 100% of troops are back to base and will cast their votes in State Duma elections on September 17-19," the press service said.
Following a successful missile launch during the Zapad 2021 exercise, Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile systems from the Guards Combined-Arms Army began their return to base as well, it said.
"The missile systems will perform a combined march by federal highways and rail to distances exceeding 1,000 kilometers, they will reach the Kursk region, and will start to prepare the weapons and military hardware for seasonal maintenance," the press service said.
As Interfax reported earlier, the Zapad 2021 exercise was held at nine ranges in Russia, the Baltic Sea, and five ranges in Belarus.
