MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - The Progress MS-17 resupply ship is due to undock from the Poisk module of the International Space Station (ISS) on October 23 and to dock with the Nauka module after two days of autonomous flight, Roscosmos said.
"The Russian resupply ship has been docked with the Poisk small research module since July 2, 2021. It is due to undock on October 23. After two days of autonomous fight, it will automatically dock with the Nauka module," the state corporation said.
The ISS will thus prepare for the arrival of the new nodal module, Prichal.
"For now, the docking unit of the Nauka module has a special adapter (an overlapping ring), which enables the docking of Russia's Soyuz MS and Progress MS spaceships, so Progress MS-17 will take it away after the final undocking from the station. Following a two-stage check, the Prichal module, which is due to be launched at the end of November of this year, will be attached to the docking unit," Roscosmos said.
It is planned to launch a Soyuz-2.1b rocket carrying Progress M-UM and the Prichal module to the ISS on November 24. Prichal will be latched on to the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module to broaden the possibility of the Russian segment's enlargement through numerous docking units.
