YEREVAN. Sept 17 (Interfax) - Armenia is interested in an effective deterrence of the international terrorist threat in the region of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.
"Armenia is very interested in an effective deterrence of the international terrorist threat in the CSTO and SCO region. Unless there is a timely, proportionate response, it may cause further radicalization and infiltration of terrorist networks in neighboring countries, especially conflict zones," Pashinyan said at a joint meeting of the heads of CSTO and SCO member states.
Yerevan "strongly condemns terrorism and extremism in any forms and manifestations," he said.
"The use of terrorist groups by certain countries for the achievement of particular military-political goals is particularly unacceptable," Pashinyan said.
He called for closer dialogue and interaction, above all, between law enforcement agencies and security services "for the purpose of exchange of information and experience, and for effective joint efforts towards neutralizing the terrorist threat within the available mechanisms of our organization."
