MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - The man who went on a shooting spree at a university in Perm fired shots at a police officer who was trying to detain him, Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk said.
The police officer returned fire, Volk said.
Officers from the traffic police regiment of the Traffic Police Directorate of the Interior Ministry's Directorate for Perm were the first to arrive at the scene, she said.
"Having noticed the police officer, he [the suspect] fired several shots at him. The state traffic police officer returned fire, wounding the attacker, ran up to him, and neutralized him, and then he began giving him first aid," Volk told reporters.
