Azerbaijani FM, U.S. undersecretary of state discuss South Caucasus situation, Karabakh agreements

BAKU. Sept 22 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's press service said in a statement.

"In the course of the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current security levels in the region [South Caucasus] and the implementation of the trilateral statement on Karabakh dated November 10, 2020. Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan had taken constructive steps in that area, but they were not reciprocated by Armenia," the press service said.

Bayramov and Nuland underlined the importance of unblocking communications and delimiting borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia for the future peaceful development of the region, the press service said. The diplomats also discussed regional and international security issues.
