MOSCOW. Oct 5 (Interfax) - The construction of a plant for the production of Kalashnikov assault rifles in Venezuela is scheduled to be completed in the second half of next year, Venezuelan presidential envoy Adan Chavez said on Tuesday.
"It should be acknowledged that this process was stalled, in particular, regarding a number of financial issues and the blocking of our funds by the United States," he said during a press conference in Moscow.
"This is a topic of constant talks; we are seeking solutions jointly [with the Russian side]. I can say that the construction of this plant is planned [to be completed] in the second half of 2022," Chavez said, expressing the hope that nothing will interfere with this.
Chavez noted that a roadmap has already been worked out, according to which the construction will be completed within the timeframe specified by him.
