Lavrov meets with Azerbaijani, Armenian counterparts in Minsk

MINSK. Oct 14 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has invited Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss bilateral and regional matters on the sidelines of a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Foreign Ministers in Minsk.

"It's good that we have an opportunity to confer on our bilateral affairs and regional matters on the sidelines of the CIS ministerial meeting. Our presidents recently talked over the phone, and there are questions that need to be addressed," Lavrov said when opening the meeting on Thursday.

Lavrov later also met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

"You and I recently had a detailed conversation in Moscow, but today we could consider some extra matters, both bilateral ones and, certainly, those concerning the region. Karabakh should always have our attention," Lavrov said at the outset of the meeting with Mirzoyan.

The Russian, Azerbaijani, and Armenian foreign ministers are also expected to have a trilateral meeting in Minsk later in the day.
