MOSCOW. Oct 19 (Interfax) - By testing hypersonic weapons, Russia does not violate any arms control obligations, while China's tests of hypersonic weapons do not pose any threat to Russia, the Kremlin said.
"Russia is in no way exceeding its international obligations in the field of arms control and is taking measures aimed at ensuring its security against the backdrop of steps being taken by the U.S. as part of the anti-ballistic missile program," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday when commenting on the United States' concern over Russia's tests of hypersonic weapons.
"Here everything is transparent, and the motives are clear," Peskov said.
When asked whether Russia is troubled by China's hypersonic weapon tests, Peskov said, "No, we don't see it as such. We have partnership relations with China. China is developing its armed forces, its weapon systems in line with international obligations as well."
