MOSCOW. Oct 19 (Interfax) - Five Armenian soldiers have been released by Azerbaijan in a handover brokered by Russia, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Today, October 19, with Russia's mediation, the authorities of Azerbaijan released five Armenian prisoners of war, who were delivered to Yerevan on a Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft," the statement said.
Their release was secured during talks led by Southern Military District Commander Lieut. Gen. Rustam Muradov and the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, Lieut. Gen. Gennady Anashkin, it said.
"The Russian side will continue working to ensure the implementation of the provisions of the trilateral agreement to end the armed conflict," the statement said.
