MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that he and members of the Taliban movement, which is banned in Russia, discussed their promise to form an inclusive government and guarantee the fundamental rights of Afghan citizens at a meeting in Moscow on Wednesday.
"The objective of achieving lasting peace in Afghanistan is still highly relevant. In our view, this can be successfully attained primarily by forming a genuinely inclusive government, which should fully represent the interests of not only all ethnic, but also all political forces in the country," Lavrov said when opening the Moscow-format meeting on Afghanistan on Wednesday.
"The support of the masses also depends on a wise social policy and observance of citizens' fundamental rights and freedoms," he said.
"We had a detailed conversation about this with the Taliban movement's delegation just before the opening of our meeting," Lavrov said.
