Russian Defense Ministry to comment on U.S. plans to sign defense deals with Ukraine, Georgia if sees fit - Peskov

MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has declined to comment on the United States' plans to sign defense partnership agreements with Ukraine, Georgia, and Romania.

"No. Our Defense Ministry will comment if it finds it necessary," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.

The Pentagon said earlier that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin would discuss Black Sea security during his visits to Ukraine, Georgia, and Romania and would declare that NATO's doors are open to Georgia and Ukraine.

On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Austin, who is on a working visit to Kyiv, discussed further steps to promote security and defense interaction between Ukraine and the U.S. and the U.S.' support for Ukraine on its way to NATO.
