YEKATERINBURG. Oct 20 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has hosted an exercise involving Mil Mi-8 helicopters of an independent helicopter squadron of the Russian Central Military District's Air Force and Air Defense Forces Formation, the Central Military District press service reported.
"Four Mi-8 helicopters and about 50 piloting and engineering personnel members were engaged in the exercise," it said.
The pilots practiced redeploying to operational airfields in Kazakhstan and then landed a tactical force on unprepared sites.
The helicopters also practiced maneuvers to evade a simulated enemy's air defense and electronic warfare assets and terrain clearance flights.
The Russian Central Military District's Air Force and Air Defense Forces independent helicopter squadron is stationed in Kazakhstan's city of Priozyorsk.
