Uzbekistan ready to increase food supplies to Afghanistan - top Uzbek official

TASHKENT. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan is awaiting proposals from the new Afghan authorities regarding the amount of deliveries of food, clothing, and essential items to Afghanistan on a commercial basis, Uzbek First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Laziz Kudratov told reporters on Thursday.

"We are awaiting the Afghan side's input regarding the specific amounts of what they need," Kudratov said.

Kudratov said that he is talking about commercial deliveries and possible humanitarian aid.

At the same time, the Uzbek side is not currently discussing with Kabul the possibility of restoring air travel, he said.

The Uzbek authorities sent 1,300 tonnes of relief supplies including food, medication, and clothing to Afghanistan on September 14.
