MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Russia respects the European Parliament, but no one can make anyone respect decisions such as awarding the Sakharov Prize to opposition activist Alexei Navalny, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
During a meeting with journalists, Peskov was asked to comment on Navalny being awarded the prize "for immense bravery."
"We believe that with such decisions, the European Parliament probably considerably reduces the value of these words," Peskov said.
"No doubt, we respect this body, but no one can make us respect such decisions," he said.
The Kremlin finds that "such decisions are made by people who, let's say, just don't have accurate information specifically on this episode and specifically on the story with this person, to be more precise, convict," he said.
