SOCHI. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Russia and the U.S. are on the right track in implementing the agreements reached during the Russia-U.S. Geneva summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"The meeting in Geneva was productive in general. And we thought, I mean my colleagues and I, that the [U.S.] administration is essentially aimed at building relations, at reviving them somehow in some crucial areas," Putin said when answering questions as part of the Valdai Discussion Club on Thursday.
At the Geneva summit, U.S. President Joe Biden and Putin agreed on the start of consultations on strategic stability, and these consultations are now underway. The two leaders also agreed on cybersecurity consultations. "At the expert level. And this has begun," Putin said.
"So it is safe to say that although the spectrum of issues on which we agreed is not too big, yet we're on the right track. These are the key issues of today. In general, the [Washington] administration on one side, and Russia on the other are implementing the outlined plans and are moving along this track. And this, as we know, is a signal of a systemic nature," he said.
