SOCHI. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has said that the people of Israel see Russian President Vladimir Putin as a very close friend of their country, adding that he would like to discuss the situation in Syria and the Iranian nuclear program with the Russian leader.
"Let's discuss Syria, let's discuss the efforts that are being made today to halt the Iranian nuclear program," Bennett said at the start of his meeting with Putin in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi.
"Mr. President, for more than 20 years you have been working to strengthen ties between our countries and you have brought them to this level. I want to tell you on behalf of the whole of our country and the whole of our people that we see you as a very close and true friend of the state of Israel," he said.
