HARB-MAIDON RANGE, Tajikistan. Oct 22 (Interfax) - Reconnaissance personnel from Russia, Tajikistan, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, using Tigr Russian armored vehicles, simulated an operation to storm a village seized by mock terrorists during the Poisk 2021 specialized reconnaissance exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Tajikistan, the press service for Russia's Central Military District said on Friday.
"Reconnaissance units of the Armed Forces of Russia, Tajikistan, Belarus, and Kazakhstan conducted a special operation to free a mountain village which, under the scenario of the exercise, was seized by a gang. Servicemen encircled the village and took control of all possible routes for the mock militants' retreat. Using Tigr specialized armored vehicles provided by the Central Military District, the reconnaissance personnel came close to the populated locality and eliminated the mock militants in a barrage strike," the press service said in a statement shared with Interfax.
The Echelon and Poisk drills and the Interaction exercise of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces are being held under the supervision of Central Military District Commander Col. Gen. Alexander Lapin at Tajikistan's Harb-Maidon and Momirak training ranges near the border with Afghanistan. During the maneuvers, servicemen of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are practicing preparing and conducting a joint operation to eliminate terrorist units invading a CSTO member state. The drills, which will continue until October 23, involve a total of 4,000 troops and more than 500 pieces of military hardware.
