MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has spoken over the phone with his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid to discuss international and regional security.
"There was an exchange of views on a number of pressing issues on the international and regional agendas, including the developing situation around the Iranian nuclear program," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two sides also "reaffirmed the importance of further joint efforts to counter attempts at rewriting the results of the Second World War and distorting the historical truth, including as concerns the tragedy of the Holocaust," the statement said.
"The foreign ministers emphasized their mutual interest in further increasing wide-ranging mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Israel and noted the highly dynamic bilateral contacts at every level," it said.
The conversation was held on Friday at Israel's proposal in light of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett held in Sochi earlier on Friday.
