HARB-MAIDON, Tajikistan. Oct 25 (Interfax) - The Russian experience of fighting terrorists in Syria was on display during large-scale operational strategic exercises of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, which have concluded in Tajikistan, Deputy Commander of the Central Military District, Lieut. Gen. Yevgeny Poplavsky, told journalists on Saturday.
"These were counterterrorism exercises aimed at countering potential threats in this area. We showed all participants the Russian combat experience gained while fighting Islamic State [banned in Russia] in Syria," Poplavsky said.
The exercises were scripted around episodes typical of international terrorist activities, with the use of weapons such as drones, primarily improved ones, bombs planted in armored vehicles, and suicide bombers, the general said.
Troops practiced conducting reconnaissance to prevent militant infiltration of Tajikistan, national-border strengthening, blocking and containing a militant incursion, and a military operation to destroy all militants, Poplavsky said.
