Combat ships of Russian, Chinese navies complete joint patrol in Pacific Ocean

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - A group of ten ships of the Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy has concluded its joint patrol mission in the Pacific Ocean, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The ships traversed over 1,700 nautical miles in total during the practical actions," the ministry said.

The patrol mission was performed on October 17-23, 2021, it said.

"As part of patrolling, the group of ships passed the Tsugaru Strait for the first time. Sailors from Russia and China drilled joint tactical maneuvering and held a number of trainings," it said.

The objectives of patrolling were displaying the state flags of Russia and China, upholding peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as protection of the two countries' economic activity facilities at sea, the ministry said.

As part of the joint force of the ten ships, the Russian Federation was represented by its Pacific Fleet, such vessels as the Marshal Krylov missile range instrumentation ship, the large anti-submarine ships Admiral Tributs and Admiral Panteleyev and the Project 20380 corvettes Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and Gromky.

The People's Liberation Army Navy was represented by the destroyers Kunming and Nanchang and the corvettes Binzhou and Liuzhou.
