KYIV. Oct 25 (Interfax) - The third shipment of additional international military aid worth $60 million from the government of the United States for the Ukrainian Armed Forces has arrived in Ukraine.
It comprises ammunition, anti-tank and precision weapons, medical supplies and other things, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"Today, yet another aircraft delivered aid from the U.S. following the agreements reached by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden. It is sincere, open and prompt aid for our servicemen, these medical and military goods will be used on the frontline," the press service for the ministry quoted Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Oleksandr Nosov as saying.
The senior defense official at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Col. Brittany Stewart, pointed out that U.S. helps Ukraine in the development of its Armed Forces, which includes material and technical aid and trainings from a tactical to strategical level. The U.S. wants to see Ukraine on its way to NATO, a free and peaceful country, she said.
Mykola Shevtsov, director of the main logistics directorate at the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff, said that the military and technical aid received from the U.S. includes high-tech and in-demand hardware and equipment and ammunition needed on the frontline. Equipment sent in the previous shipments already increases the capabilities of Ukraine's counterbattery and anti-tank forces, as well as reconnaissance, he said.
As reported, two previous shipments of the U.S. government's aid arrived in Ukraine on October 10 and 18.
