Over 14,000 troops from Russian Eastern Military District take part in antiterrorism drill

MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - More than 14,000 troops from Russia's Eastern Military District have taken part in an antiterrorism exercise in 11 constituent territories of the Far East, the district press service said in a statement on Monday.

"Over 14,000 troops, as well as about 500 pieces of weapons and military and special hardware, including Tigr and Taifun armored vehicles, have been involved in the games," the statement said.

Interagency taskforces were deployed in the Eastern Military District to control the troops and hardware during the antiterrorism drill. Aviation groups of the Air Force and Air Defense Formation, antiterrorism detachments of district formations and military units, and other entities of the military district underwent a check, the statement said.

The troops deterred attacks on military and socially significant sites, including weapon and fuel depots, command posts, staffs, and motor pools of combat vehicles.

"Given modern warfare experience, emphasis was put on countering unmanned quadcopters and operating Lesochek and Zhizel ECM systems," the statement said.
