VILYUCHINSK. Oct 27 (Interfax) - An S-400 air defense system has taken part in a tactical exercise in Kamchatka to train protection of Pacific Fleet submarines from a mock enemy's airstrike.
"An S-400 Triumf air defense missile system has accomplished a training mission of air defense of a base of Pacific Fleet submarines and has deterred an airstrike of a mock enemy by electronic launches of guided air defense missiles. More than 200 servicemen and about ten pieces of military hardware took part in the exercise," S-400 battalion commander Maj. Alexander Burmistrov told reporters on Wednesday.
Consistent with the exercise scenario, the S-400 battalion was deployed from a position area to an unequipped sector on the Pacific coast.
Pantsir-S1 air defense missile and artillery systems were protecting the S-400 on the move.
Once they reached the practice area, the troops deployed launchers and camouflaged the position with a smoke screen.
According to the Eastern Military district press service for the Pacific Fleet, the exercise was part of a combat preparedness check that finalized the summer training season and prepared for the Vostok 2022 strategic command post exercise, which will be the main training event in the Eastern Military District next year.
