MOSCOW. Oct 27 (Interfax) - Russian ships and planes, which have taken part in an exercise in southern Russia and the South Caucasus, as well as 8,000 Russian troops are now back to base, the Southern Military District's press service said on Wednesday.
"Tactical aircraft of the Southern Military District have completed deployment from operative airfields to airbases. Meanwhile, warships, boats and supply vessels of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla have performed their missions at maritime ranges and have returned to naval bases in the Krasnodar Territory, the Astrakhan region, Dagestan and Crimea," the press service said.
The exercise involved over 8,000 troops from three combined-arms armies, the Black Sea Fleet, the Caspian Flotilla, the Air Force and Air Defense Formation, as well as units and formation of branches and special forces of the Southern Military District, it said.
"A largescale bilateral command post exercise aimed to train troop control in the southwestern strategic sector is now over in southern Russia and on the location of Russian military bases in the South Caucasus," the press service said.
