Russian corvette holds artillery exercise during maneuvers in Sea of Japan

VLADIVOSTOK. Oct 29 (Interfax) - The Russian Pacific Fleet's Aldar Tsydenzhapov corvette has held training maneuvers in Peter the Great Gulf in the Sea of Japan.

"During the exercise, the ship detected a mock enemy surface ship which was imitated by a screen and destroyed it using an A-190 artillery system," commander of the corvette Captain 3rd rank Andranik Shishmonyan told reporters.

While the corvette was negotiating a minefield, its artillery units used an AK-630 artillery system to destroy buoyant mine mockups and repelled a mock enemy air raid using electronic countermeasures.

The corvette also practiced using an Uran anti-ship system against a seaborne target by carrying out electronic launches, without actually firing missiles. During the exercise, a Kamov Ka-27 helicopter from the Pacific Fleet's air force also practiced landing on the military ship's deck and taking off from it on the go.
