Two Syrians injured near Damascus as 4 Israeli fighter jets deliver airstrike

MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Two Syrian soldiers were injured on Saturday, as Israeli fighter jets hit air defense positions near Damascus, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria Vadim Kulit said.

Four Israeli F-16 fighter jets fired eight missiles, and two of them were downed by a Russian-made Buk-M2E air defense system, Kulit said at a press briefing on October 30.

"Between 12:25 p.m. and 12:28 p.m. on October 30, four F-16 tactical fighter jets of the Israeli Air Force fired eight Delilah guided missiles from their territory, near Golan Heights, without entering the Syrian airspace, at air defense positions of the Syrian Arab Republic 20 kilometers west and 12 kilometers northwest of Damascus," Kulit said.

"Syrian air defense details downed two missiles by means of a Buk-M2E air defense missile system. The airstrike inflicted insignificant damage on the infrastructure, and two servicemen of the Syrian Armed Forces were injured," he said.

Buk-M2E is a modern intermediate-range air defense missile system designed by Almaz-Antey.

The Israeli Air Force regularly strikes on the Syrian territory. As a rule, it targets sites operated by Hezbollah fighters assisting Damascus or related to Iran and Iranian military advisors stationed in Syria.
