MOSCOW. Nov 1 (Interfax) - The Skif-D experimental satellite providing broadband Internet service is due to be launched next year, Roscosmos said.
"Skif-D will be launched into a medium circular orbit with an altitude of 8,070 kilometers. It is planned to launch the satellite in late September 2022," it said.
Skif-D will join the same-name experimental space cluster to test new technological solutions for broadband Internet access, Roscosmos said.
The experimental satellite is being designed by Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems (ISS-Reshetnev), a component of Roscosmos.
The satellite will have a mass of up to 200 kilograms and will consume about 250 W of power, the corporation said.
"ISS-Reshetnev specialists are currently preparing designer documentation for the satellite and its component parts. Meanwhile, enterprises of the corporation are designing and making components," Roscosmos said.
