Preparedness check involving over 70,000 troops ends in Russia's Central Military District

YEKATERINBURG. Nov 2 (Interfax) - A preparedness check involving over 70,000 servicemen has ended in Russia's Central Military District, the district press service said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The training was held at 14 ranges in Siberia, the Urals, the Volga region, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. The check verified the preparedness of military commands and the ability of forces to accomplish training missions in any circumstances with due account of the experience of modern armed conflicts," the press service said.

One formation and 84 units reaffirmed their status of "attack forces," which is 6% more than last year. The number of servicemen who confirmed their skills also grew by 8%, the press service said.

The check was carried out under the supervision of Central Military District Commander Alexander Lapin.

The Central Military District includes 29 constituent territories and three federal districts of Russia, as well as a number of sites abroad: the 201st military base in Tajikistan, the combined military base in Kyrgyzstan, and units stationed in Kazakhstan.
