Azerbaijan wishes to buy JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan

BAKU. Nov 2 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan wishes to buy JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan, military attache in the Azerbaijani embassy in Islamabad Mehman Novruzov said.

"The procurement of JF-17 Thunder planes from Pakistan is high on our agenda," the Pakistani media outlet Dunya News quoted Novruzov as saying.

He said, in particular, that Azerbaijan was willing to buy JF-17 Thunder Block 3 modern fighter jets.

"The Azerbaijani Air Force is working hard to modernize its hardware, especially fighter jets, and joint work is being done with Pakistan in this area," Novruzov said.

JF Thunder is a fighter-bomber developed jointly by Pakistan and China. In the Chinese Air Force, it is called the Chengdu FC-1 Xiaolong. The latest modification of JF-17 costs slightly more than $25 million.
