MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - The Rostov-on-Don and Veliky Novgorod submarines have fired Kalibr-PL missiles at a mock group of enemy ships during a training exercise, the Russian Black Sea Fleet said on Wednesday.
"After performing an emergency submersion, the submarines carried out electronic missile launches, simulating a missile strike from a submerged position on mock enemy ships which were represented by the Black Sea Fleet's tactical group of ships," it said.
The drills involving these two submarines were routine, the fleet said.
"Under the scenario of the maneuvers, when tackling routine combat training tasks at sea, the submarines received an order to destroy the waterborne targets that were detected and identified," it said.
The United States Sixth Fleet has reported that the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Porter, equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles, entered the Black Sea on October 30.
