Kremlin to make announcement if Putin talks with CIA Director Burns, who's visiting Russia - Peskov

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - The Kremlin will make an announcement if a conversation is arranged between Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William Burns, who is on a working trip to Russia at the moment, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"As you know, the president isn't in Moscow now. The president is in Sochi, where he is working. Therefore, if some contacts other than personal ones do take place, we'll inform you of that," Peskov told journalists on Wednesday, when asked whether Putin might have any communication with Burns while the latter is in Russia.

The president has been informed of Tuesday's meeting between Burns and Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, he said.

"Certainly, of course, he [Patrushev] did," Peskov said, when asked whether Patrushev informed Putin of his meeting with Burns.

Any contacts between the Russian and U.S. security chiefs are important, and therefore, the president receives all necessary reports, he said.

Asked about the importance of contacts between the CIA chief and Russian security officials, Peskov replied, "Definitely, dialogue at such a level and dialogue on such sensitive matters is extremely important for bilateral relations and for exchanging opinions on the problems we have."
