Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada supports Taran's resignation as defense minister (Part 2)

KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has supported the resignation of Andriy Taran as defense minister at his initiative.

In total, 341 deputies voted for the relevant decision at a plenary session on Wednesday.

Taran has served as defense minister since March 4, 2020.

David Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, said earlier that Taran "has some complaints about his health" and that another person may become the ministry head in light of that.

It emerged later that a possible candidate for Ukrainian defense minister is Oleksiy Reznikov, and the candidacy of MP from the Servant of the People Iryna Vereshchuk for minister of reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories (instead of Reznikov) is under consideration.

On November 1, Reznikov tendered his resignation as deputy prime minister and minister for reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Taran tendered his resignation on November 2.
