Russian Foreign Ministry denies Western media reports of Russia concentrating troops near Ukrainian border (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Nov 3 (Interfax) - Western media reports that Russia is pulling troops to the border with Ukraine are untrue, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"We paid attention to the volley of information that was released, including on us, but in fact to a greater extent on truth, which took place in the articles of the United States media regarding Russia pulling troops to the border with Ukraine," Zakharova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

"It wasn't just one fake, it was a whole fresh fake campaign in the American media," she added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that the town of Yelnya, where, according to Politico, Russian troops were spotted, is "hundreds of kilometers" from the Ukrainian border, and the Maslovka railway station, which was mentioned in the Foreign Policy article, is also far from the border with Ukraine.

"No one has approached us. I'm sure that no one from the Russian side, who represents our country, was approached at all," Zakharova added.

The U.S. publication Politico earlier published satellite images of the movement of Russian military equipment near the town of Yelnya in the Smolensk region, claiming that Russia is concentrating its military near the border with Ukraine. The Washington Post also reported about movements of Russian military equipment near the Ukrainian border.
