Russian Prosecutor General's Office has no knowledge of Justice Ministry giving consent for Whelan's transfer to U.S

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Nov 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has said it has no information about a Russian Justice Ministry decision to hand U.S. citizen Paul Whelan, convicted of espionage in Russia, over to the United States to further serve his sentence.

"If the Ministry of Justice greenlights his handover, he will be transferred. At this point, there is no information about the Justice Ministry approving Whelan's handover," prosecutor Sergei Lukoyanov, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General's Office, told Interfax following an appeal court hearing.
