MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - The Donbas situation is tense and shows no signs of stabilization, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, refusing to answer a question whether Russia might support the self-proclaimed republics if they make such a request.
"No comment. Indeed, the situation is very tense, and we do not see any signs of de-escalation for now," Peskov said at a press briefing on Monday in response to a question whether "Russian forces would respond to a possible request for help from the Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics and how soon and broad the possible assistance might be."
"Provocations are intensifying and, of course, this causes our profound concern," he said.
