MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Russia's recognition of the Donetsk (DPR) and Luhansk (LPR) People's Republics should promote a peaceful scenario in eastern Ukraine, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said.
"The Foreign Ministry always favors a peaceful resolution of any conflict, including the conflict in the southeast of Ukraine, and it appears to us that today's decision will promote precisely such a peaceful scenario," Rudenko said at the Russian State Duma on Tuesday.
The discussion at the Duma shows that "a consensus has formed" in Russia as concerns the DPR and LPR recognition, he said.
