BRUSSELS. March 3 (Interfax) - About one million people have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian military operation, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said on Thursday.
"In just seven days we have witnessed the exodus of one million refugees from Ukraine to neighboring countries," Grandi said on Twitter.
"It's time for guns to fall silent, so that life-saving humanitarian assistance can be provided," he said.
It was reported on Wednesday that nearly 836,000 people have left Ukraine, over half of them for Poland.
The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees said on Tuesday there were about 1 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine.
