BLAGOVESHCHENSK. March 21 (Interfax) - Iskander-M missile systems of a missile formation of Russia's Eastern Military District have practiced firing cruise missiles to destroy critical targets of a simulated enemy during an exercise in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the district's press service said on Monday.
"In field conditions, the formation's combat crews reloaded missiles onto self-propelled launchers using transporter-loader vehicles. Receiving the coordinates, the Iskander-M tactical missile systems destroyed the command centers and communication nods of a simulated enemy, carrying out training (electronic) launches of cruise missiles," it said.
The missile operators practiced multiple changes of launching positions, repelled an attack by a simulated sabotage and reconnaissance group, and camouflaged the launchers from a simulated enemy's modern reconnaissance systems, it said.
On their way toward a planned area, the missile operators overcame simulated contaminated areas and practiced maneuvering within a constrained space. Over 50 pieces of hardware were involved in the exercise.
