Transdniestria's Interior Ministry confirms shots were fired in direction of Russian arms depots in Colbasna (Part 2)

TIRASPOL. April 27 (Interfax) - The Interior Ministry of the unrecognized Transdniestrian Moldovan Republic has confirmed local media reports that shots were fired in the direction of the Russian weapons and ammunition depot in Transdniestria on Wednesday morning.

"Information available as of 10:00 a.m. indicates that several drones were detected in the sky over Colbasna village in the Ribnita district last night. The drones were launched into Transdniestrian territory from Ukraine," the Interior Ministry said.

"Shots were fired from Ukrainian territory in the direction of the Transdniestrian locality of Colbasna at 8:45 a.m. on April 27," it said.

There are currently no reports on casualties, it said.

The depots in the village of Colbasna on the left bank of the Dniester have been storing weapons and ammunition of the former 14th Russian Army since Soviet times. Some munitions date back to the 1950s. The depots are guarded by the Operational Group of Russian Forces in Transdniestria. Around 20,000 tonnes of ammunition were removed from the depots and disposed of in the early 2000s, while nearly the same amount is still kept at the depots.

Tiraspol media outlets said earlier in the day that a shooting incident had occurred near the Russian weapons and ammunition depots in Transdniestria.
