U.S. to allocate $2 mln to help Kyrgyzstan dispose of aging munitions

BISHKEK. April 28 (Interfax) - The United States will allocate $2 million to help Kyrgyzstan dispose of its aging ammunition and explosives, the press service for the U.S. embassy in Bishkek said on Thursday.

"The U.S. is committing $2 million in 2023 to help safely dispose of aging and deteriorating ammunition and explosives" in Kyrgyzstan, the press service said.

This financial assistance will be provided in partnership with the Kyrgyz State Border Services, OSCE and ITF Enhancing Human Security, it said.

Aging ammunition and explosives "threaten Kyrgyz civilians and military personnel," it said.
