MINSK. May 4 (Interfax) - The Grodno Region Court in Belarus, which has been handling the case opened against Russian citizen Sofia Sapega, will hand down a sentence to her on May 6, the unregistered Belarusian human rights center Viasna said.
"The sentence of political prisoner Sofia Sapega will be pronounced on May 6," Viasna said.
In-camera proceedings in Sapega's case have been ongoing at the Grodno Region Court since March 28, the human rights center said. Sapega has been indicted on seven counts of the Belarusian Criminal Code, including incitement of social enmity and discord, illegal actions in relation to information about private life and private data, the organization of violence or the threat to use violence against a police officer, it said.
Sapega was detained on May 23, 2021, along with journalist Roman Protasevich after the Ryanair passenger plane on which they were traveling made an emergency landing at the Minsk National Airport.
