Four dead as ammo item spontaneously detonates at depot near Russia's Vladimir - military district HQ

MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - Three military personnel and a civilian specialist died when an ammunition item spontaneously detonated at a storage facility in Russia's Vladimir region, the press service for the Western Military District said on Wednesday.

"An ammunition item spontaneously detonated during a loading and unloading operation on the grounds of an ammunition depot in the Vladimir region on June 22. Three military personnel and one civilian specialist died as a result of the explosion," the press service said.

"The fire that broke out at the storage facility was put out. Damping-down of the territory is in progress. There is no threat to other facilities and nearby populated localities. All circumstances of the accident are being established," it said.
