LUHANSK. June 24 (Interfax) - The allied forces of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) and the Russian Armed Forces have taken full control of Hirske and Zolote in the Luhansk region, while the Ukrainian forces blocked in that area have been eliminated, LPR militia spokesman Andrei Marochko told Interfax.
"The group operating in Hirske and Zolote has been liquidated," Marochko said on Friday.
In his words, the allied forces have taken full control of Hirske and Zolote (including Zolote-1, Zolote-2, Zolote-3 and Zolote-4).
Zolote is situated in the so-called gray zone between positions of the LPR militia and the Ukrainian army. The Minsk Agreements envisaged the opening of a contact line checkpoint for civilians in that area.
The LPR said on June 22 that the allied forces of the LPR and Russia had trapped Ukrainian forces in Zolote and Hirske. Marochko told Interfax on Thursday that thousands of Ukrainian servicemen were trapped in the LPR.
