Kursk region extends high level of terrorist alert until July 8

VORONEZH. June 24 (Interfax) - Kursk region Governor Roman Starovoit has announced the extension of the yellow (high) level of terrorist alert for two more weeks.

"Regional law enforcement agencies and security services are staying on high alert. A joint decision has been made at a meeting of the counterterrorism commission to extend the yellow level of terrorist alert for two more weeks, until July 8," Starovoit said on Telegram.

He asked the population to stay vigilant.

The yellow (high) level of terrorist alert has been in place in the Kursk region since April 11.

The region borders Ukraine and has repeatedly come under attack.

The administration of Russia's Bryansk region reinstated a high level of terrorist alert on Thursday. The yellow level of terrorist alert will be in effect for 15 days starting on June 23, the regional government's press service said in a statement.

The Bryansk region declared a high level of terrorist alert on April 11. The alert was extended until May 10 and reinstated on May 24 for a 15-day period.
