Russian Defense Ministry says 500 Ukrainian troops killed in Kharkiv region

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Russian aircraft have killed up to 500 Ukrainian troops in a precision-guided strike delivered in the Kharkiv region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

In his words, the strikes on Merefa and Chuhuiv killed up to 500 servicemen of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a large number of hardware.

Meanwhile, an aircraft strike on positions of the 54th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Mariinka area in the Donetsk People's Republic killed over 50 servicemen from the brigade, he said.

A strike on positions of the 16th Battalion of the 58th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Artemivsk killed over 130 troops and forced about 70 troops to leave their positions, Konashenkov said.
