MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Serbia's Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin discussed bilateral cooperation and the situation in the Balkans at their meeting on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The parties discussed issues concerning bilateral and regional interaction and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further promoting the Russian-Serbian strategic partnership and their close coordination in strengthening stability and security in the Balkans," the Foreign Ministry said.
"Given the recent serious escalation of the situation in Kosovo and continuing tensions there, the parties underscored the need to settle the situation in the province by strictly following international law, on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and demonstrating full respect toward the sovereignty, territorial integrity, legitimate rights and interests of Serbia," it said.
